BAART Programs, part of BayMark Health Services, provides medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders. The expansion brings additional medication options at participating BAART locations, giving individuals greater access to treatment aligned with their clinical needs, preferences and recovery goals. “Treatment for opioid use disorder is not one-size-fits-all,” said Dan Greer, Senior Vice President of Opioid Treatment Programs at BayMark Health Services. “Expanding buprenorphine services at BAART locations that already provide methadone treatment allows us to offer patients more options while keeping their care connected through an experienced treatment team.” Buprenorphine services will be provided through an office-based opioid treatment (OBOT) model, while participating locations will continue to provide methadone through their established opioid treatment programs (OTPs). OTP patients receiving methadone generally visit the treatment center more frequently for medication, while eligible OBOT patients may receive a buprenorphine prescription for up to a month at a time, allowing for less frequent visits. Each patient will receive an assessment and individualized treatment plan to determine the medication and level of support most appropriate for their needs.
