The Singapore data center colocation market was valued at USD 2.30 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 3.39 billion by 2031, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 6.68%. Market growth is being supported by rising artificial intelligence workloads, enterprise cloud adoption, Internet of Things deployments and continued investment in high-capacity digital infrastructure. AI and Cloud Adoption Accelerate Colocation Demand Singapore continues to strengthen its position as a leading digital infrastructure hub in Asia-Pacific. Strong interest in AI, combined with a digitally engaged population and enterprise demand for advanced computing, is increasing requirements for scalable, high-performance data center capacity. The Economic Development Board and Infocomm Media Development Authority are working with data center operators to expand capacity while reinforcing the connectivity and sustainability standards required for Singapore's AI ecosystem. The country's updated National AI Strategy, NAIS 2.0, aims to more than triple Singapore's AI workforce within three to five years, accelerate enterprise adoption, advance national research priorities and strengthen responsible AI development. Government investment in quantum computing, blockchain and edge computing is also expected to support long-term demand for energy-efficient colocation facilities. In 2025, the cloud and IT sector accounted for approximately 58% of Singapore's colocation demand. This leadership reflects growing reliance on cloud-native applications, hybrid cloud architectures and software-as-a-service platforms. Enterprises are increasingly outsourcing infrastructure to colocation providers to improve scalability, maintain high availability and optimize capital expenditure. Wholesale colocation generated the largest share of Singapore data center colocation revenue in 2025. Demand is being driven by cloud platforms and AI providers requiring substantial power capacity and scalable computing environments. However, limited capacity additions anticipated over the next two to three years could create supply constraints and influence occupancy levels and wholesale colocation pricing. Submarine Cable Infrastructure Strengthens Singapore's Regional Role Singapore is one of the world's most significant submarine cable hubs, with 32 active cables and another 12 under development. These systems connect Southeast Asia with the United States, Europe and other major international markets. Singapore's strategic location, liberalized telecommunications sector and established regulatory environment continue to attract investment from global hyperscalers, including Google, Meta and Amazon. Submarine cable expansion nevertheless faces challenges, including limited landing-station space, cabotage restrictions in neighboring waters and geopolitical risks in the South China Sea. Addressing these constraints will be important to maintaining network resilience and supporting future data center development. Workforce Availability Remains a Market Constraint Competition for engineers, technicians and research specialists is intensifying across Singapore's technology and semiconductor industries. Micron's planned addition of between 1,400 and 3,000 highly skilled positions in packaging, assembly and testing highlights the growing pressure on the specialized labor pool. Advanced packaging, AI-driven memory technologies and precision manufacturing require niche expertise that remains limited globally. As new operations commence from 2026, talent shortages could extend training cycles, affect technology transfer and increase wage pressure. Deeper collaboration between academic institutions and industry, together with targeted semiconductor and data center training programs, will be essential to support workforce development.
