Singapore’s former transport minister S Iswaran has been sentenced to 12 months in jail, after he was convicted of five charges, including obtaining gifts worth over S$400,000 over seven years, from two businessmen he considered his friends, as well as for obstructing justice. The sentencing comes more than a year after details of the probe by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau first came to light, and 10 months after Iswaran was first charged in court.
