From 1 April 2026, app stores in Singapore will start verifying the age of users under 18 — using tools like facial scans, government IDs, and even online behaviour. The goal is to prevent minors from accessing apps with inappropriate content.
But it also raises a bigger question: Are we moving toward a safer internet or a more controlled one?
