Singapore is often held up as a leader in digital payments. But the data show that cash hasn’t really gone away. It is still widely used, especially in everyday places like hawker centres and neighbourhood shops. 

On Viewpoint, Lynlee Foo speaks to Sheila Chiang, Business Correspondent, The Straits Times about why digital payments haven’t replaced cash, and whether having more ways to pay is actually making things more complicated.
