What happens when you grow up disconnected from a part of your own heritage? One listener, from a mixed Chinese-Malay family, was raised closer to his mum’s side after a falling-out left him estranged from his Chinese relatives. But now, he wants to reconnect with his Chinese roots, learn the language and traditions, and meet relatives he’s been estranged from.

The problem? His dad doesn’t want him reopening old wounds. So, should he respect his dad’s wishes — or follow his own path to discover where he comes from?
